ISM was honoured to receive a bursary to send a student delegation to attend the International Education & Sustainability Leadership Programme held recently at the International School of Luxembourg.
“Eye-opening, empowering, life-changing and inspirational” are just some of the adjectives students used to describe the experience! Based on Otto Shamer’s Theory of U thinking framework model, students explored the complexity of the sustainability concept in an interconnected world that is suffering from poly-crisis, redefined the moral purpose of education and regenerative economies, and embraced a systems thinking model to apply in school organisations.
Students had the opportunity to hear from sector leaders in sustainability and critically contest some of the decisions taken. Finally, in a plenary, students were given leadership to voice their goals, obstacles and action networks in their respective school communities’ journey to sustainability. We look forward to creating sustained impact over time in young generations for a better future!
