The International School of Monaco (ISM) is proud to announce that it will once again host the highly anticipated AFEC Tennis Championships, taking place from October 11-14, 2025. This prestigious tournament, organised in collaboration with the World Academy of Sport (WAoS), brings together top young tennis athletes from local, European, and international schools for a unique blend of competition, education, and cultural exchange.
Now in its third edition, the AFEC Tennis Championships continue to grow in scale and impact, reaffirming their status as a premier platform for student-athletes worldwide. The 2025 edition will feature 64 players—32 boys and 32 girls—competing in four age categories (U18 & U13). The tournament will culminate in the finals at the world-renowned Monte-Carlo Country Club, home to the annual ATP 1000 Tournament.
Beyond the thrilling on-court action, the AFEC Tennis Championships are distinguished by their commitment to holistic athlete development. Participants will engage in educational workshops as part of the AFEC Olympian Empowerment Coaching Programme, designed to equip young athletes with essential skills and knowledge. These sessions, delivered by Olympians, will cover topics such as performance optimisation, injury management, dual career pathways, and transitions in sport.
Expanding on past success, the 2025 edition will introduce an extended programme for international student-athletes traveling from outside Europe. Under the theme “More than a Tournament: A Week of Sport, Culture, and Learning,” this initiative will provide an enriched experience that includes pre-tournament training sessions, cultural excursions, and networking opportunities for athletes, coaches, and parents.
ISM Director Stuart Bryan expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the event: “The AFEC Tennis Championships have become a cornerstone event for student-athletes worldwide, and we are honoured to host the third edition. This tournament offers a perfect blend of competition, education, and cultural exchange, embodying ISM’s commitment to excellence both on and off the court.”
Aimilios Sampanis, WAoS Head of Programme Development & Operations, echoed this sentiment: “With each edition, the AFEC Tennis Championships continue to expand in impact and reach. Thanks to our strong partnership with ISM, we anticipate that 2025 will be our most successful tournament yet. This event unites like-minded schools in an environment where high-level sport is seamlessly integrated with unique educational activities, empowering the next generation of talented athletes.”
As the countdown begins, ISM looks forward to welcoming student-athletes from around the world for what promises to be the most exciting edition of the AFEC Tennis Championships yet—a true celebration of sport, learning, and international camaraderie. To read more, please click here.
