We are delighted to share with you some recent news of our alumni. This week’s focus is on alumni who are now sending their own children to ISM…
ISM is often thought of as a “young” school, but some of our former students have already begun sending their own children here! This is a wonderful stage in our school’s history!
Nico Rosberg, whose two children now attend ISM, recollects being one of the very first students when the school opened in 1994.
“I had a great time in the first year of ISM’s existence. There were only two children in my grade! Luigi and I, and we are still friends today. So they mixed us with the grade below us. I learned to juggle 3 balls from Mr Rogers, who was our teacher for the English half days. He was from New Zealand, and he also taught us the Rugby Haka Dance which we performed at the end of the year show. We also learned the Monégasque national anthem. When I later learned to speak Italian, I finally understood that Monégasque is much closer to Italian than to French. This was awesome as in 2013 I was the only one who could sing the Monaco national anthem on the starting grid, just before winning the Monaco Grand Prix!”
In 2018 we welcomed Sophia, whose mother Georgina attended ISM from 1997-2002.
Georgina says:
“The International school of Monaco that I attended wasn’t the school it is today; there were no older children in higher classes above my year and the school grew as we got older. I remember the Fort Antoine being our playground and where we took school pictures and were able to fit the whole school on those round steps! I have wonderful memories and made friends whom I still have today, and for that reason I am very proud and happy that my daughter Sophia is now attending ISM herself. ISM has grown and changed so much since my days but one thing remains and that’s the professionalism, support, love and determination of everyone in the ISM community, and I am very proud to be a part of it (again as a mother now) and for my daughter to make her own memories in such a warm learning environment.”
In 2019 we welcomed Elio into KAM, whose father Giovanni graduated in 2008.
Giovanni says:
“ISM played a big part of my life. I spent 8 years as a student at ISM and graduated from the school in 2008. ISM is the place where I met and built relationships with friends whom I call “family” today, who over 10 years later are still in contact almost daily for either personal or business related matters.
For my family it was a must to enroll our son Elio at ISM, as we believe that the school offers a unique environment that focuses on academic success and most importantly teaches students respect. Today we are glad to see Elio enjoying school the same way I enjoyed it in the past, and we look forward to having our youngest son join the school next year.”
This year we welcomed Alexia, whose father Antonio was a classmate of Giovanni’s and also graduated in 2008.
Reflecting on his own time at ISM, Antonio (pictured here with Alexia) says:
“ISM is a place where you come to grow. It is a small family and community in which every person (be it a teacher or classmate) contributes to your personal and academic growth as a student. ISM shaped me into the person I am today and I am so grateful for the values of community, open mindedness and personal connections that ISM instilled in me over the years.”
