On January 31st and February 1st, ISM was pleased to host ISMMUN, our annual Model United Nations conference.
Once again held online due to the pandemic, this in no way impacted the quality of debate nor the attendance. Almost 200 delegates from around the world converged online to lobby, debate and resolve complex topics from our political and social landscape. This year’s conference also saw three new schools participating, including KSIB in Bratislava, Slovakia, the International School of Nice, and Mougins British International School.
The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Carole Lanteri, the UN’s permanent ambassador to Geneva, and Vibeke Thomsen, the founder of ‘Shecanhecan’. Both guests gave an inspiring speech to launch student delegates into two days of diplomacy and lobbying. Some of the most popular resolutions included the question of fast fashion, ensuring the future equality of distribution of vaccines during pandemics, and rethinking universal standards for the treatment of prisoners.
Congratulations to all participants for their excellent work at this year’s ISMMUN 2022 conference!
